Dear Church,

As we begin a new week, let’s reflect on what God told Joshua as he prepared to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. Joshua 1:7-8 (NLT) says:

“Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

God gave Joshua the key to true success: God’s Word. The same is true for us. Scripture is the foundation for a life of purpose, peace, and “Success” as God defines it. The more we fill our lives with God’s Word, by hearing, reading, studying, memorizing, and meditating on it—the more we align ourselves with God’s will. God’s will is always revealed in His Word.

Take a moment to ask yourself: Is your life truly built on God’s Word? Or have you been trying to build it on other things like career achievements, material possessions, or fleeting pleasures? These things might bring temporary satisfaction, but they cannot provide an alternative for living aligned with God’s plans for us.

Here’s the challenge for this week: Make spending time in God’s Word a priority. What would that look like for you?

  • Could you set aside 10 minutes in the morning or evening to read Scripture?
  • Maybe you can meditate on a single verse throughout your day.
  • Or memorize a passage that speaks to you and let it guide your decisions.

Ask yourself: What might need to change in your schedule to make this happen? Are there activities you need to adjust or distractions you need to minimize? Our smartphones are our greatest distractions.

Let’s commit this week to seeking God with our whole hearts, investing our time in His Word, and trusting that He will guide us into His plans of spiritual blessing.

Your Monday Encourager,
Mathews
