Dear Church,

Here is what 1 Corinthians 2:9 says: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived— the things God has prepared for those who love him.”

In other words, this passage says, If God were to pull back the curtain and show you everything, He’s prepared for those who LOVE Him… it would blow you away. Again, see here the keyword is Love God. We’d be stunned at how He can take someone who loves Him, as ordinary as you and me, and use them in extraordinary, kingdom-impacting ways.

But here’s the thing: God won’t force His plan on you. Throughout the scriptures, we see that His best always comes with an invitation, not a push. He wants you to choose His plan. He wants you to choose Him.

Some of our desires may be beneficial, such as marriage, career, family, and security. But even our best ideas fall short compared to what God has in store. And let’s be honest: some of our desires are broken. We carry wounds, pride, and dreams shaped more by self-centeredness,  fear, or culture than by faith. That’s why we’ll never truly discover the best until we surrender and say:

“Lord, your will, not mine be done.”

Just look at Mary and Joseph. Before God stepped in, they had simple, good intentions: get married, build a quiet life, and serve God faithfully in their small town.  But God’s plan interrupted all of that and entrusted them with His Son.

She said, “I am the Lord’s servant… May your word to me be fulfilled.” (Luke 1:38) When they said yes, they didn’t just fulfill their dreams, they stepped into a story that would change the world. Sadly, many people miss God’s best, not because they’re chasing bad things, but because they’re clinging to their things, even doing ‘God’s things’ in their own way.  They want control.  They want comfort. But God wants surrender.

So, here’s my encouragement to your Monday: Start each morning with this simple, powerful prayer: “God, I want your will to be done in my life, not mine.”Pray it when life is going well. Pray it when your plans fall apart. Pray it when you don’t understand.

Because the safest, most fulfilling place you could ever be is in the center of His will.
